When Boardriders, the biggest surf retail group in the world contacted stockinstore to talk about our find in store solution, they wanted to understand what we provided that was so different to the in-house solution they had previously developed on their old eCommerce website.

Nick Palmer, APAC eCommerce Technical Lead at Boardriders said, “Our previous website had a find in store solution but we didn’t migrate it across to our the Cloud Commerce platform.”

“It made sense to take what we had done previously and replicate it on Commerce Cloud, but with so much happening with the re-platform, we moved ‘Find in Store’ into Phase 2. Using in-house developers, we still couldn’t implement our existing find in store solution as quickly as the stockinstore team said they could. They ticked all the boxes for us.”

All boxes ticked

✔ A clean User Experience online for customers to find availability in store
✔ Very quick implementation
✔ Seamless integration with Commerce Cloud
✔ Reports and insights we would use to improve our inventory planning & forecasting

Integration Setup Time

Andrew Maver, CEO and co-Founder of stockinstore, said, “We didn’t start having discussions with the Boardriders team until the second week of October. Once Boardriders made the decision to use stockinstore, they wanted the solution live before the end of November, in time for the busy December, Christmas and January summer trading periods. Launching quickly was super important. In the end it took us just 13 business days from approval to launch and this was the first stockinstore customer using Salesforce Commerce Cloud.”

“We wanted to start with Surf Dive n Ski and Amazon Surf in New Zealand and focus on the Christmas and New Year trading period, then look at implementing stockinstore across all the brands within the group early next year.” said Nick.

Beyond Australia

“Every retailer around the world, with physical stores, has to engage with their customers and while the online store is often the first point of contact, it is not the only way everyone wants to shop,” said Andrew.

“Over 80% of people still prefer to shop in store. stockinstore provides customers with the information to make those choices. It’s why online conversion rates are at about 5x the site average when stockinstore is used. If you show a customer that you don’t have the item they want in a nearby store but it’s available online, they usually buy it.”

“stockinstore is designed and engineered to be a global solution from the beginning. Setting up Amazon Surf for New Zealand with different timezones and locations wasn’t any different for us.”
